With just a week left, budgets will be finalized, policy differences will be worked out, and the finishing touches will be put on the 2023 legislative session ahead of Sunday’s adjournment. This year saw historic investments in housing, the largest investment in education since the McCleary decision, and important steps forward on public safety through strengthened gun laws and drug laws that use treatment and rehabilitation to help people struggling with addiction.
If the Legislature is able to complete its work on time and adjourn Sunday, it will mark the sixth year in a row a legislative session has finished on time — the first time that’s happened in our state’s 133 year history!
