Sen. Bob Hasegawa has been awarded a Golden Bamboo award in recognition of his dedication and commitment to values important to the Filipino community in the greater Seattle metropolitan area.
“It is an honor to receive this award and a point of professional pride to work on legislation on behalf on the needs of the Filipino community,” Hasegawa said. “It is vital that Filipinos and other communities of color have an active voice and representation in the Legislature, and as one of the few members of color in the Senate, I take that responsibility very seriously.”
Hasegawa received the award Saturday at the annual gala hosted by the Filipino Community of Seattle. Executive Director Sheila Burrus, Board President Alma Kern and Lt. Governor Brad Owen presented the award during the gala at the Renton Pavillion Event Center.
