Friends and neighbors,

We’re just days away from our first town hall of 2024!

Join me and Reps. Lillian Ortiz-Self and Strom Peterson from 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, in the Kamiak High School Performing Arts Center, 10801 Harbour Pointe Blvd. in Mukilteo. We’ll answer questions on the 2024 session and our work in Olympia to support our community.

We can’t wait to see you there!

Saving the bees

Climate change, chemicals and other factors have caused our state’s bee population to decline at a rate faster than the national average, with colonies decreasing 9% from April 2022 to April 2023. One major contributor to the shrinking bee population is pesticides.

That’s why I sponsored SB 5972 to end the domestic outdoor use of pesticides that contain neonicotinoids, an insecticide that can be deadly to bees. I’m so pleased to share the bill passed the Senate this week and is now under consideration in the House!

Bees are such an important part of a healthy ecosystem and an absolutely critical component of food production. Fewer bees will have a devastating effect on our state’s agricultural community and economy.
