Congrats to Washington State Ferries on the successful virtual grand opening of the new Mukilteo Ferry Terminal. This is the first new ferry terminal built in our state in 40 years. And it was much needed as the Clinton-Mukilteo run is one of the state’s busiest with more than 4 million ferry users each year.

This is a great example of federal, state, local, and tribal governments working together to build strong communities. The Washington State Department of Transportation did an amazing job incorporating Native American art and design elements into the new terminal. And I’m especially proud of the Legislature for approving funds to add solar panels to the terminal’s roof. This is just one of the many ways Washington is leading toward a clean energy future.
