Dear neighbors,
The 2025 legislative session is officially off to a full sprint as I write this from Olympia. Thank you for your confidence in my continued service as your 11th district senator. This job, though challenging at times, has truly been an honor. As you may already know, Washington state alternates between “long sessions” (105 days) and “short sessions” (60 days) every other year. This is called a “biennium” type of legislature. This year is a “long” session, and though we have a little more time, we have a LOT of work to get done. So, no time to waste!
I am personally helping craft a variety of bills this session (and ardently supporting others) that underscore our collective commitment to recreate a housing market our children can thrive in, provide homelessness prevention services that save lives, public safety that yields safe and walkable communities for everyone, affordable access to health care and insurance for all, and a state bank centered on empowering Washingtonians’ wallets and investing our people’s collective wealth back into our beautiful state and communities. I hope you will follow along and engage as we continue to put working families first in the Legislature. Please read below on how you can get more involved.

Conclusion
Thank you for reading and joining me here virtually this session. I’ve got to run now and go through all the bills introduced today! My meetings this week included a meet up with the Honorary Consul of Chile, Andres Barria, Consul General of Korea, countless lobby meetings, meetings with staff and my colleagues to draft and discuss bills, the Members of Color Caucus, working on my own bills, and oh yeah, the governor’s ball. We’re staying pretty busy!
As always, my door and email inbox remain open, and my phone is always on. Drop me a line if you have any questions or comments this session. Community feedback is my compass as I navigate these sacred halls of our democracy.
Talk to you soon,
Bob
