“Mujer Al Volante de las GRACIAS (thanks) Sen. Claire Wilson for providing critical funding to our organization. This funding will help immigrant and refugee women get access to necessary mobility and independence through obtaining a driver’s license,” said Founder and Executive Director Jaqueline Castillo. “Many mothers and women from around the world arrive in Washington state looking for a safe place to live and raise their families, and one of their critical needs is mobility. This funding will allow us to continue helping mothers in need.”
“This transportation budget is focused on traffic safety, safe routes to schools, and pedestrian and bicycle safety – it includes everything from safe streets to safe drivers,” said Sen. Claire Wilson (D-Auburn). “The investments in this proposal will make significant improvements in our district and support organizations like Mujer Al Volante that have like-minded goals for overall safety.”
