Dear neighbors,
As we enter the last five weeks of the legislative session, I wanted to thank you for engaging with me throughout the process. From Mercer Island to Sammamish, constituents across the district voiced their support or concern for several bills introduced this session. As your state senator, I take this feedback seriously — it factors into my decisions whether to support bills. I hope to continue hearing from you as I finish my work in Olympia next month.

Education and health care have been some of the topics on my priority list this year. As the chair of the Senate Early Learning & K-12 Education Committee, I was proud to support bills to increase funding for special education and school operating costs, materials and supplies. Adequately funding education is our state’s paramount duty, and I’m working to ensure Washington’s schools have the resources they need to educate our kids.
I know many of you are also concerned with the cost and quality of health care, especially for our seniors. I’m always thinking about how we can take better care of our most vulnerable, and that’s why I eagerly supported a bill this session to increase protections for residents in memory care facilities. I’m also monitoring how potential federal cuts to core programs like Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid would affect Washington’s seniors. If the federal government steps back, we must step up to take care of our neighbors.
Reminder: 41st Legislative District Town Hall on Saturday
I’ll join my seatmates, Reps. My-Linh Thai and Janice Zahn, for an in-person town hall this Saturday, March 22! We’ll be in the U Building at Bellevue College from 10-11:30 a.m. This is a great opportunity for constituents to meet their legislators, ask questions, and hear about the work we’re doing in Olympia. I hope to see you there!
Yours in service,
