This Legislative Session was groundbreaking. Democrats went to Olympia to get to work on major issues like helping students afford college, planning for long-term care needs, making health care more affordable, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, funding our state’s behavioral health needs,
and investing in special education.

The list of legislative successes is long, and we are proud to say we also stepped up for Washington’s working families through major investments in the operating budget.

• Setting a pathway to a 100% clean energy grid by 2045. (SB 5116)
• Making it affordable for Washington students to train for Washington jobs through the Workforce Education Investment. (HB 2158)
• Providing affordable, understandable, and usable health care for the middle class with Cascade Care. (SB 5526)
• Helping Washington families prepare for their long- term care needs through the Long-Term Care Trust Act. (HB 1087)
• Funding the expansion of community behavioral health beds, services, and additional resources to ensure the stability of state hospitals and the safety of patients and staff.
• Making significant investments to close the gap in special education funding.

We still have a lot of work to do, but let’s make no mistake about it, what we accomplished this session will help working families in Washington for years to come.

Thank you for reaching out to us and staying engaged in the legislative process!

Sincerely,

Sen. Derek Stanford Rep. Shelley Kloba
