OLYMPIA – The Senate Local Government, Land Use & Tribal Affairs Committee will hear two bills sponsored by Sen. Liz Lovelett (D-Anacortes) on Tuesday.

The bills would address issues important to Washington, including funding for affordable housing projects and increasing energy efficiency in residential properties.

  • Senate Bill 5312 would create a Residential Property Assessed Clean Energy and Resiliency (R-PACER) Program, providing a financing option for homeowners to invest in renewable energy systems and energy efficiency improvements, such as solar panels, weatherization, and appliance upgrades.
  • Senate Bill 5334 would allow local governments to fund affordable housing programs through a special excise tax on the furnishing of short-term vacation rentals.
