Dear neighbors:

As we gear up for the 2025 legislative session, I would love for you to stay engaged and reach out anytime to help shape policy. All Washingtonians, regardless of age, can participate in our democracy and impact state laws. Whether you are a young person interested in serving as a page or a Washington resident wanting to make a difference, there are many opportunities to participate.

First, meet my new legislative assistant, Daisy!

Sen. Dhingra and her new legislative assistant, Daisy, outside the Legislative Building.

I’m so excited to welcome my new legislative assistant, Daisy! She holds master’s degrees in social work and public health from the University of Washington (Go Dawgs!). A bit about Daisy:

✨ She loves dogs and has two pugs named Simba and Nala.

✨ She enjoys traveling and has been to Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, India, Mexico, Canada, Egypt, and Thailand.

✨ She became open water scuba diving certified in Indonesia.

✨ She loves plants and has a ton of them.

She will be the main point of contact for my office during the legislative session. She’ll take your calls, coordinate constituent meetings, resolve casework, and help you take part in the legislative process!

Apply to be a page

A page holds a microphone on the Senate floor.

Do you know a young person who wants to learn more about state government? The Washington State Senate has one of the best page programs in the country, and applications for 2025 are open! This exciting program allows Washington students to immerse themselves in the legislative process and meet other students from across the state. Pages spend their week distributing materials on the Capitol campus, assisting offices, delivering messages, working on the Senate floor, and presenting the colors at the opening of the day’s legislative session. Pages also spend time each day in Page School, learning about all aspects of state government. The program includes housing in Olympia and a stipend.

To apply, you’ll need:

  • Permission from a parent or guardian.
  • You must be between 14-16 years old.
  • A recommendation of a teacher and your principal and their emails. For homeschool students, parent or guardian information may be used.

More information, including how to apply, is available here. Applications close March 27, 2025.

How to get involved

Everything we do at the Legislature benefits from public input. To make a difference for our community on the issues you care about, here’s how you can get involved:

  • Learn how a bill becomes a law.
  • Find legislation on the issues important to you.
  • Watch broadcasts and archived videos of your democracy in action.
  • Testify before legislative committees remotely or in person.
  • Reach out via my contact information below. You can also call the Legislative Hotline at 1-800-562-6000.

As always, please feel free to reach out to my office directly with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely yours,

Manka Dhingra
Senator, 45th Legislative District
