Dear friends and neighbors,

In just forty days, I will join my colleagues in Olympia for the 2024 legislative session. This the second session of the biennium, and we are gearing up to keep delivering for Washington state through sine die on March 8th.

Preparing for Session

Today and Friday, all Washington State senators will meet in Olympia for Committee Days. Committee Days occur every December, allowing legislative committees to hold work sessions and plan for 2024. You can view all of these hearings on TVW: click here for the full schedule. The House of Representatives will hold their Committee Days the next week.

As we plan for session, now is a great time for you to reach out and share your policy priorities, both general and Spokane-specific. Your feedback helps me to do my job effectively. You can contact me at andy.billig@leg.wa.gov or call my office at 509-209-2427.

Apply for the Page Program

Do you know a 14 to 16-year-old interested in learning more about state government? Encourage them to apply for the Washington State Legislature’s page program. Pages travel to Olympia and serve at the state Capitol for one week of the legislative session and spend their time distributing materials and communications, assisting legislative offices, and learning about state government at the page school. Click here for more information. Applications are open and rolling through February 9th.

Stay in Touch

Thank you to everyone who has reached out or met with me this interim. As mentioned above, please do not hesitate to reach out with your comments, questions, or concerns.

Onward!

Andy
