Town Hall coming up March 31

Mark your calendars for our next virtual town hall meeting on Wednesday, March 31 from 6:00-7:00pm I will be joined by my seatmates, Representatives Marcus Riccelli and Timm Ormsby. This is an excellent opportunity for us to provide an update on the legislative session, hear your feedback, and answer your questions.

If you have questions you would like to submit ahead of time, click here . The event will be live-streamed on the Washington Senate Democrats YouTube pageFacebook page, and on Twitter.

Calling all high school students!

The Washington Legislative Youth Advisory Council (LYAC) is now accepting applications for the 2021-2023 cohort. Serving on LYAC is an exciting opportunity for young people that allows them to engage with their legislators and make real policy change.

Among other things, LYAC members have the opportunity to:

  • Meet with state officials to discuss and influence Washington State policy
  • Testify before the state legislature
  • Host events around the state with hundreds of youth attendees
  • Write, lobby for, and pass legislation

The council is composed of 22 student members who each serve a two-year term. Applicants must live in Washington state and be entering 9th, 10th, or 11th grade in Fall 2021. The application page can be found at walyac.org, and applications must be submitted by March 31.

Pre-Register to vote

In 2018, I was proud to play an instrumental role in passing HB 1513, which allows 16 and 17-year-olds to preregister to vote. Since then, 58,600 young people have pre-registered to participate in our democracy!

If you or someone you know is 16 or 17-years-old, click here to learn more about registration.
