Sen. Javier Valdez

Vice chair, Senate State Government & Elections Committee

Javier Valdez is the proud son and grandson of farmworkers and laborers. Javier has worked for the City of Seattle for over 20 years, where he led Seattle City Light’s women and minority business (WMBE) program, served as a special assistant on WMBE programs in the Seattle Mayor’s Office, and currently as a senior equity and inclusion advisor with the City of Seattle Finance and Administrative Services Department. Javier is vice chair of the State Government & Elections Committee and also serves on the Law & Justice and Transportation committees.

Rep. Gerry Pollet

Chair, House Local Government Committee

After graduating from the University of Washington Law School, he chose a career as a public interest attorney protecting our environment, children, consumers, promoting open government; and, teaching a new generation of public health and law students. Gerry teaches at the University of Washington’s School of Public Health and some courses at the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance.

Rep. Darya Farivar

Rep. Darya Farivar was born and raised in the 46th Legislative District in the Lake City neighborhood. Before coming to the Legislature, Farivar worked in disability rights advocacy focused on the intersection of behavioral health, housing and the criminal legal system. Prior to that, she worked to support immigrants and refugees with developmental disabilities.
