Dear friends and neighbors,

It’s a privilege and an honor to connect with you through my first e-newsletter update for the 2025 legislative session, which officially started Monday. I look forward to another year of championing our communities’ priorities and representing you all in the Senate.

FIRST WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

Session is already off to a busy start. In our first week, we watched new and returning senators be sworn in, heard remarks from former Gov. Jay Inslee and incoming Gov. Bob Ferguson, and began our work in committee.

In Ways & Means, we have hit the ground running. As chair, one of my biggest responsibilities is working with my colleagues and staff to craft and negotiate the 2025-2027 operating budget. Budgets are a reflection of our values, and while we have to navigate a difficult fiscal environment this year, we have an opportunity to build a responsible, sustainable plan — one that puts people first and prepares us for the challenges of tomorrow. I will dive more in-depth into our proposal in future updates as it takes shape.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Below you will find a variety of helpful resources that make it easy for you to be part of the legislative process, from start to finish:

Our democracy is at its best when everyone takes part. Your participation has always been vital to our state government, and I encourage you to explore these resources and keep connected.

PAGE PROGRAM

This week, I sponsored Vishu, a student from Cavelero Mid High School in Lake Stevens, as a page. Vishu got a firsthand look at the Senate in action. And you can too!

The Senate Page Program is still accepting applications for 2025. Open to students 14-16 years old, this fun, week-long experience includes page school, assisting senators, and learning about the legislative process — all while getting paid. Scholarships and host family housing are available too.

STAY IN TOUCH

Our office remains as available to you as ever. Please don’t hesitate to contact us and share your thoughts or concerns. This work can’t — and shouldn’t — happen without you.

Thank you for being such an essential part of our community and team.

Sincerely,

June Robinson
