Friends, neighbors —
So far, we’ve passed over 200 bills in the Senate! Scroll down to see where ours stand. ⬇️
#1: FOUR of our bills passed the Senate and are headed to the House!
👉🏽 SB 5555 to help address the behavioral health crisis by creating certified peer specialists to ensure our neighbors who are struggling find support when they need it most.
👉🏽 SB 5394 to support physicians trained at international medical schools in providing care in Washington by helping grow practice opportunities.
👉🏽 SB 5732 to ensure seniors who qualify for the property tax exemption program remain eligible when they receive a nominal social security increase.
👉🏽 SB 5292 to support passenger-only ferries.
#2: Where does that leave our other bills? Two are waiting to come to the floor:
👉🏽 SB 5241 (Keep Our Care Act) to protect patient interests against hospital and health system mergers.
👉🏽 SB 5534 to move staffing of the Workforce Education Investment Accountability Board to the Washington Student Achievement Council — a good government efficiency bill.
#3: Wednesday is house-of-origin cutoff, which means we must pass all Senate bills off the debate floor by 5 p.m. that day. After then, we’ll head back to committees to hear the bills sent over by the House. You can learn more our other upcoming legislative deadlines here!
#4: Don’t forget, my first virtual town hall of 2023 is coming up at noon Saturday, March 11.
