Dear friends and neighbors:

As you may know, the $640 million in this year’s transportation revenue package marks the culmination of my 10-year effort to eliminate traffic congestion and improve road safety via a new interchange at the intersection of Highway 18 and Interstate 90.

Construction of this bold new interchange kicks off this month and is scheduled to be completed in 2025, but you can get a preview of what’s to come during a presentation this Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Snoqualmie Elementary School gym at 39801 SE Park St. in Snoqualmie.

Officials from the state Department of Transportation, along with design-builder Aecon, are scheduled to host a drop-in style open house where they will share information and answer questions about the Interstate 90 and State Route 18 improvements and widening project. Attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Test drive the diverging diamond interchange with Aecon’s simulator;
  • Learn more about the project benefits;
  • Hear what to expect during construction; and
  • View displays and talk with project managers.

This presentation should provide answers to pretty much any question you might have on your mind. If you are unable to attend, you can still visit the project page at wsdot.wa.gov/construction-planning/search-projects/i-90-sr-18-interchange-improvements or learn more about the diverging diamond interchange at wsdot.wa.gov/travel/traffic-safety-methods/diverging-diamond-interchange.

In just a couple of years, this major improvement will provide smoother, safer travel along what has been one of our state’s more dangerous roadways!

Until then, as always, please take care and stay safe,
