Today marks a historic day for women across our country – it’s the day the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was adopted and women won the right to vote!

As women, we have made significant progress in 94 years, thanks to many brave women who have continued the fight; however, we still have issues that affect the safety and security of women in our state and country.

Please join me at the Strengthening Women’s Economic Security Forum, a community conversation on policies that support working women, stronger healthy families, and strengthening women’s economic security.

From 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Sept. 10

Vancouver Community Library, Columbia Room

901 C St., Vancouver

Washington state has always been a leader in women’s movements – our state granted women the right to vote in 1910, 10 years before the rest of the country. We can’t let progress stall when too many women today are struggling to get by. During this discussion we will talk about what we can do in our state and communities to support policies such as equal pay, family leave, and sick and safe leave.

I encourage you to mark your calendars, lend your voice and come and support the future of women in our state.

This event will be hosted by: Children’s Alliance, Faith Action Network, Main Street Alliance of Washington, MomsRising, Washington CAN, Washington State Labor Council, and Washington Work and Family Coalition.

I was  proud to join my fellow Women Democrats of Clark County and friends to walk along the Columbia River in honor of the day’s historic event.
