Dear friends and neighbors –
This session, our office hosted four amazing pages! These civically engaged young scholars supported our office, learned more about the legislative process, met with other public servants, and more.
Julyssa Carias was our first page this session! She is a sophomore at Federal Way High School and had a blast learning the Legislature’s ins and outs. She is interested in law and policy and met with Justice Mary Yu while she was with us in Olympia!
Shay’lin Duncan-Tymas was our second page this session and is a junior at Federal Way High School. She is also interested in law and met with Attorney General Nick Brown while paging with us. She even received a special pin from his office and is now interested in being the attorney general one day.
Andrew Hwang joined us last week! Andrew is an 8th grader at St. Vincent de Paul and from Federal Way. He wants to pursue a degree in law and eventually become a prosecutor. He enjoyed writing a bill with his fellow pages and watching senators’ floor debates.
Amanat Narwal also joined us last week. Amanat is a junior at Mount Vernon High School and from Mount Vernon. In the future, she wants to become a surgeon and do advocacy work on the side. She had a blast learning more about how a bill is passed and seeing the Senate floor action.
Julyssa, Shay’lin, Andrew, and Amanat were a tremendous help this session and played an important role in the Legislature. It’s more important than ever young people get more involved in politics. I’m dedicated to empowering young voices and ensuring they have the tools needed to engage in the political process.
The 2025 legislative session is wrapping up, but please consider applying for the Page Program next year! You can learn more here.
As always, I am honored to be able to do this work and serve the 30th Legislative District!
Sen. Claire Wilson
