Dear friends and neighbors,
The Washington State Senate has one of the best page programs in the country! Do you know any 14–16-year-olds interested in learning more about politics and state government? The Legislature’s Page Program is still accepting applications for 2025! This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience here at the Capitol.
Just last week we hosted our first page of the session — Julyssa Carias. Julyssa is a sophomore at Federal Way High School, and she had a blast learning the ins and outs of the Legislature. Check out this fun video we did together last week!
To apply to the Page Program, you must attend school or be homeschooled in Washington state. To be a page, you also must be sponsored by a representative or senator. The position is paid; pages earn a stipend of $65 per day and potentially up to 20 hours of community service.
Legislators have a limited number of sponsorship slots, so please reach out to our office directly to request and confirm sponsorship.
Pages spend one week in Olympia, serving in either the House or Senate. Throughout that week you’ll:
- Attend Page School.
- Assist offices and lawmakers.
- Deliver messages and materials to the chamber floor.
- Attend talks by prominent guest speakers, such as supreme court justices, party leadership, and agency directors.
- Participate in a mock committee debate.
- … and more!
Scholarships are available for students currently receiving free or reduced lunch. You can apply for the scholarship here.
Serving as a page is a fun opportunity to earn valuable political experience. It’s more important than ever that young people get more involved in politics! If you have any questions or would like to request sponsorship, please reach out to me at claire.wilson@leg.wa.gov.
As always, I am honored to be able to do this work and serve the 30th Legislative District!
Sen. Claire Wilson
