Reminder \u2013 town hall Saturday!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We\u2019ve passed the halfway point of the legislative session! I\u2019m happy to report that I\u2019ve passed nine bills through the Senate, which are now making their way through the process over in the House. I\u2019ve got legislation moving on subjects as diverse as low-income housing construction, green transportation, climate data accountability, and beef and cannabis agricultural commissions! It\u2019s a privilege to work on so many important issues.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now we\u2019re holding hearings on bills that the House passed over to us here in the Senate, including some great bills from my seatmates Rep. Alicia Rule and Rep. Joe Timmons. Rep. Rule has legislation on mutual aid and bodily autonomy and Rep. Timmons has some great proposals on\u00a0 supporting our seniors and improving disaster recovery. He\u2019s also my partner on water adjudication. We each introduced a bill that will work with the other to prepare Whatcom County for its water adjudication process.<\/p>\n

It\u2019ll be this Saturday at Horizon Middle School, and I\u2019m looking forward to hearing your questions and your input on the big issues we\u2019re working on this session, like affordable housing, building our green economy, public safety, supporting our rural areas and more!<\/p>\n

Good legislation comes when you share your voice with your legislators. We need to know what is working, what isn\u2019t and how we can make your life \u2013 and the lives of all Washingtonians \u2013 better! You\u2019re our eyes and ears in the community, and your thoughts mean so much to all of us. We can\u2019t wait to see you there!<\/p>\n

Next week, we\u2019re beginning the process of presenting our operating, capital, and transportation budget proposals. I\u2019m on the team that negotiates and writes our Senate transportation budget proposal, so I have the chance to help decide what projects get funded, how we allocate our resources to help folks get around safely and quickly, and how we can make our transportation system more sustainable and better for the environment. I\u2019m excited to be able to tell you soon about what we have planned \u2013 stay tuned!<\/p>\n
