Dear friends and neighbors,
After a decade serving the 37th Legislative District in the Washington State Senate, I am preparing to close this chapter of my service to you. It is a moment filled with gratitude, reflection and, honestly, a mix of pride and emotion that is difficult to fully put into words.

For 10 years, you trusted me with your stories. You invited me into your lives — into moments of uncertainty, resilience, hope and determination. I have sat with families worried about keeping a roof over their heads, workers fighting for dignity on the job, young people imagining their futures and elders working to preserve the communities they helped build.
Those conversations shaped me. They grounded every vote I took, every bill I fought for and every decision I made. This work was never abstract to me. It was always personal.
Together, we took on big challenges. We pushed for stronger protections for workers, expanded voting rights, advanced environmental justice, pushed for equitable transportation and fought to make our economy and our communities more fair and more inclusive. None of those victories belonged to me alone. They were built by a community that organizes, shows up, speaks out and never stops believing that things can be better.
Serving you has been one of the greatest honors of my life.
As many of you know, I will be continuing my work in public service in a new way. While I will not be seeking reelection to the Senate, my commitment to this community remains as strong as ever. This is not an ending of that commitment — it is a continuation of it, in a different role and with the same purpose.
Election year restrictions

I also want to share an important update. Election year restrictions on official legislative communications begin May 4. As a result, this will be my last e-newsletter until around November. During that time, I will not be able to send updates through this newsletter or post on my official Senate website or legislative social media accounts.
Please know that my office will remain open and ready to assist you. If you have questions, need support with a state agency or simply want to share your thoughts, my team is here for you. You can reach us by email at rebecca.saldana@leg.wa.gov or by phone at (360) 786-7688.
While my official website and social media accounts, including Facebook and Instagram, will not be updated during this period, they will remain available for general information.
Before I close, I just want to say this clearly: Thank you. Thank you for your trust. Thank you for your advocacy. Thank you for holding me accountable and pushing our state to do better. And thank you for reminding me, every step of the way, what public service is truly about.
I carry deep love for this district and immense faith in the people who call it home. It has been the honor of my life to serve you.
With deep gratitude,
