Sen. Rebecca Saldaña issued the following statement regarding her vote on SB 6347 during concurrence on the Senate floor:

“I want to clarify any confusion regarding my vote on SB 6347 during concurrence on the Senate floor.

“Due to the fast-moving nature of floor action, I was unable to change my vote before the lieutenant governor closed the roll call. As a result, my final recorded vote does not reflect my intended position.

“To be clear, I intended to vote no on this legislation. That position is consistent with my earlier no vote when the bill was first brought before the Senate prior to consideration by the House.

“While I appreciate the intent to ensure small businesses and families of modest means are not unduly impacted, I do not believe this is the right time to enact tax cuts, including adjustments to the estate tax. At a time when Washington must continue investing in housing affordability, education, health care and economic stability for working families, we must prioritize sustainable and equitable revenue.

“I have long supported a tax system that is fairer and more balanced—one that asks those with the greatest resources to contribute their share so we can fund the services and opportunities our communities rely on. Reducing revenue at this moment risks undermining those commitments.

“I regret the confusion caused by the recorded vote and want my constituents to know clearly where I stand. I remain committed to responsible budgeting and to building an economy that works for all Washingtonians.”
