Move Ahead Washington is a 16-year transportation package that will invest $17 billion to improve everything from roads to rails, from ferries to bike paths. This moves Washington ahead towards a sustainable future by providing a clear path to better connect people around our state.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m excited to announce the local improvements we can expect to see with this historic legislation. In this proposed version, over half a billion dollars will go directly into the 38th Legislative District to address our local transportation needs, as seen below.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2708 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/senatedemocrats.wa.gov\/robinson\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2022\/02\/38th-LD-investments-updated-1-300x169.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"846\" height=\"476\" srcset=\"https:\/\/senatedemocrats.wa.gov\/robinson\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2022\/02\/38th-LD-investments-updated-1-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/senatedemocrats.wa.gov\/robinson\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2022\/02\/38th-LD-investments-updated-1-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/senatedemocrats.wa.gov\/robinson\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2022\/02\/38th-LD-investments-updated-1-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/senatedemocrats.wa.gov\/robinson\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2022\/02\/38th-LD-investments-updated-1-847x477.png 847w, https:\/\/senatedemocrats.wa.gov\/robinson\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2022\/02\/38th-LD-investments-updated-1.png 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 846px) 100vw, 846px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These funds will be allocated to improve I-5 (from NB Marine View Dr to SR 529), US 2 trestle bridge, the North Broadway pedestrian bridge, the 156th Street railroad overcrossing, SR 99 business access and transit lanes (148th St SW to Airport Rd), Swift Bus Rapid Transit, and much more.<\/p>\n<p>Move Ahead Washington includes funds to allow children to ride free on all public transportation services, invest in a high-speed rail corridor, and to fulfill the state obligation to replace existing fish passages.<\/p>\n<p>Importantly, this package is not relying on an increased gas tax or additional car tabs fees. You can read more about the legislation here: <a href=\"https:\/\/app.leg.wa.gov\/billsummary?BillNumber=5974&amp;Year=2021&amp;Initiative=false\">SB 5974<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/app.leg.wa.gov\/billsummary?BillNumber=5975&amp;Initiative=false&amp;Year=2021\">SB 5975<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Senate Floor Action<\/h2>\n<p>Another one of my bills passed off the Senate floor last week!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/app.leg.wa.gov\/billsummary?BillNumber=5753&amp;Initiative=false&amp;Year=2021\">SB 5753<\/a> updates the member composition, quorum rules and member qualification requirements for health profession boards, commissions, and advisory committees. Membership requirements and qualifications for some have not changed over the years, and this has created inconsistencies and inequities. It\u2019s important that professional leadership should better represent the public in diversity, geography, and specialty areas in some professions.
