An important opportunity to <strong>engage in the redistricting process<\/strong> is coming up on <strong>June 22, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm<\/strong>. Contributing your thoughts and insights about what you want your community to look like \u2013 as the <strong>Washington State Redistricting Commission<\/strong> drafts new congressional and legislative district maps \u2013 will have an impact for years to come.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission is holding a series of these <strong>Public Outreach Meetings<\/strong> throughout the state to gather public input \u2013 so <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/leg-wa-gov.zoom.us\/webinar\/register\/WN_iEszJj0lQfm7dfPzioiLEQ?fbclid=IwAR1haANxQ01Q2-rMkp1LmUFVy0VsRRDRFq8TkdcvoCkZOMMpEcq9cu0X12g\">register as a participant<\/a><\/strong> to receive a Zoom invite and get involved! Please note: if you do not register, you won\u2019t be able to speak directly with the commissioners or other community members during the meeting. If you\u2019d prefer to simply watch the conversation, <strong>tune in on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tvw.org\/watch\/?clientID=9375922947&amp;eventID=2021041111&amp;autoStartStream=true\">TVW<\/a> or on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCCpOvoIGR9_QqRW0PMgr7Pg\">Youtube<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Here in the 38<sup>th<\/sup> Legislative District (LD) \u2013 which includes all of us in Everett, Marysville, and Tulalip \u2013 we are in <strong>Congressional District #2<\/strong>. This Public Outreach Meeting on June 22 includes all of our neighbors in CD #2, so we\u2019ll be joined by LDs 1, 21, 32, 39, 42, and 44. You can find the schedule for the rest of the Public Outreach Meetings in different Congressional Districts <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.redistricting.wa.gov\/outreach-meetings\">here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><u>PLUS: A QUICK BUDGET UPDATE<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Starting in July, our state will operate under a new, two-year budget that guides spending for everything from public schools to environmental protection to housing to health care. As the vice chair of the Senate Ways &amp; Means Committee, it was my honor to help write the budget and collaborate with community members and colleagues to build better, stronger investments in our state. The\u00a0$60 billion, two-year budget that we passed is an important document that puts our values into action and provides a brighter vision for tomorrow.
