OLYMPIA — Senate Ways & Means Chair June Robinson (D-Everett) issued a statement in response to the release of Gov. Bob Ferguson’s supplemental operating budget proposal Tuesday:
“Gov. Ferguson’s proposed supplemental operating budget reflects how challenging the state’s fiscal landscape is again this year, and I appreciate the care and deliberation he took in developing it.
“I know firsthand how difficult it is to make reductions while balancing rising costs, economic uncertainty, and the real impacts on families and communities. This proposal provides a responsible starting point and a solid foundation for the Senate as we begin our budget work in January.
“There is no question this will be a year that requires incredibly hard choices. As chair of the Senate Ways & Means Committee, my focus will be on protecting core services, minimizing harm to the most vulnerable, and ensuring our budget decisions are sustainable over the long term.
“I look forward to working with the governor and his staff and my legislative colleagues to build a final supplemental budget that reflects our shared responsibility to Washingtonians.”
