Today we\nadjourned the legislative session until next year. Since I came to Olympia this\nJanuary, I have made it my mission to fight every day to make the 26<sup>th<\/sup>\nDistrict and our whole state a better place\u2014to expand access to health care, to\nmake it easier for kids to fulfill their dreams through higher education, and\nto ensure that our community is getting the investment we deserve from the\nstate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Legislature has made great progress on some of the most\ncrucial issues facing our state this year. We\u2019ve made it easier to build\naffordable housing, protected tenants from eviction, funded expanded wildfire\nprevention and response, protected our orcas, and improved sentencing\nguidelines. And we\u2019ve guaranteed the most important protections for health care\nin the Affordable Care Act, expanded affordable and high-quality health\ninsurance options, provided a way for families to prepare for long-term care,\nensured transparency in drug pricing, and given school districts the\nflexibility to fund enrichment programs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Closer to home, I\u2019m proud to say that our budgets are funding\nsignificant infrastructure investments in our community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The transportation budget includes <strong>$41 million<\/strong> of funding in and around our district over the next two\nyears, including $7.9 million for upkeep of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge and $2.5\nmillion for the Bremerton and Southworth ferry terminals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The capital budget will invest <strong>$29 million<\/strong> in projects in our communities, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>$10.1 million for Olympic College&#8217;s Innovation &amp; Technology Learning Center and the renovation of the Shop Building<\/li><li>$4 million for construction work at the Retsil Washington Veterans Home<\/li><li>$3.5 million for West Sound Technical Skill Center Modernization<\/li><li>$2.3 million for Minter Hatchery Intakes<\/li><li>$2 million for Peninsula Community Health Services Behavioral Expansion and Mobile Dental Clinic<\/li><li>$1.2 million for Kopachuck Beach Area Improvements<\/li><li>$1 million for the Mustard Seed Project, which promotes independent living for seniors on Key Peninsula<\/li><li>$800,000 for McCormick Woods Sewer Lift #2 Improvements<\/li><li>$556,000 for Warren Avenue Playfield<\/li><li>$500,000 for renovations at Warren Ave. Neighborhood Park<\/li><li>$497,800 for Gateway Park<\/li><li>$385,000 for Sound View Camp conservation <\/li><li>$350,000 for Gig Harbor Sports Complex <\/li><li>$250,000 for the YMCA of Greater Seattle Camp Colman<\/li><li>$206,000 for Quincy Square on 4th<\/li><li>$204,500 for Taylor Bay Acquisition Phase 2<\/li><li>$200,000 for environmental cleanup at the Bremerton Naval Complex<\/li><li>$173,000 for PenMet Community Rec Center <\/li><li>$150,000 for Kaukiki Farmland Preservation<\/li><li>$134,000 for Sehmel Homestead Park Turf Lights <\/li><li>$100,000 for Harbor History Museum&#8217;s fishing vessel Shenandoah<\/li><li>$90,000 for fish barrier removal on Minter Creek <\/li><li>$83,000 for Tidal Embayment restoration design<\/li><li>$52,000 for Howe Farm Water Service<\/li><li>$52,000 for PenMet Cushman Trail Enhancements <\/li><li>$51,000 for the Roxy Bremerton Foundation<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bills I passed this year<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"955\" height=\"345\" src=\"http:\/\/sdc.wastateleg.org\/randall\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2019\/05\/Bills-passed-2019.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1247\" srcset=\"https:\/\/senatedemocrats.wa.gov\/randallarchive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/45\/2019\/05\/Bills-passed-2019.png 955w, https:\/\/senatedemocrats.wa.gov\/randallarchive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/45\/2019\/05\/Bills-passed-2019-300x108.png 300w, https:\/\/senatedemocrats.wa.gov\/randallarchive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/45\/2019\/05\/Bills-passed-2019-768x277.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 955px) 100vw, 955px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>My week in\nOlympia<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I believe in transparency, and I want to keep you all informed\nabout what I\u2019m doing on behalf of the 26<sup>th<\/sup> District in Olympia.\nThat\u2019s why I\u2019m making a practice of posting my legislative calendar each week\non my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/senatoremilyrandall\/\">Facebook<\/a> page.
