That means\nthat we\u2019ve introduced the last new bills of this session, and now we turn to\nmoving the best of these bills along in the process. Just respond to this email and we\u2019ll add your question to Monday night\u2019s discussion!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">*Even if you\u2019re not on Facebook, you can keep an eye on what\u2019s happening each day in Olympia\u2014and watch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tvw.org\/watch\/?clientID=9375922947&amp;eventID=2019021284&amp;startStreamAt=2872&amp;stopStreamAt=3471&amp;autoStartStream=true\">my first floor speech<\/a>\u2014on TVW! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Spotlight: Supporting\nveterans and military families<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Wednesday, I gave <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/senatoremilyrandall\/videos\/1033717666816245\/?__xts__%5b0%5d=68.ARBnMRHrWVnBEOFx9EjFV62dD_a3ujtDpxphDtBVEYyp3CVQVTjfaOVXflLLjt1b9FemB8BMlA8_mGKXac00U40k51ONCXcbl5UPBbtLq6Yxv-AxmRGh8hYfEjCrUmtc6oUwE6wgbQDsZYzOd7---EMzQyBZl6IXkACmvyiSKysAfdjZ40DOSy-ub2P2OOikwnPpjTB7Qup8j9biH7SpcQ8vTZuCwe1Rr5Aec6pS2R1cWRgAi6a3Lv0IUrrDmFkV28-K_WJeemMtPwDSa_pFAlq79Nn_BFxrQ9ZmI3_rFzsQgfFr6Qevss2RZ05SRdbsJNdtGIW_huZefiDQXSB8TRWQE7ysdVbrRl4&amp;__tn__=-R\">my\nfirst speech on the floor of the Senate<\/a>.* The bill I spoke about, <a href=\"https:\/\/app.leg.wa.gov\/billsummary?BillNumber=5603&amp;Initiative=false&amp;Year=2019\">SB\n5603<\/a>, is all about ensuring that the families that are serving us\nare served by the work we&#8217;re doing for them. It would allow the children of\nservice members who are relocating to enroll in school before they have an\naddress in district. This will improve the transition to a new school for the\nkids, for their families, and for their school districts. As we welcome many\nfamilies connected to the USS <em>Carl Vinson<\/em>\nto our community this year, we want to make sure that no matter what the makeup\nof your family or how soon you know that you&#8217;re coming to our community, we\nclear the ground for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As I\u2019ve talked to\nservice members, veterans, and neighbors around our community, I\u2019ve heard about\nways that we as a state can better support our veterans and military families.\nThat\u2019s why I\u2019ve sponsored four other related bills this session:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/app.leg.wa.gov\/billsummary?BillNumber=5571&amp;Year=2019&amp;Initiative=false\">SB 5571<\/a> will boost the economy around military bases by      authorizing cities and counties near bases to establish military benefit      zones. This program will allow for tax incentives and state grants to fund investment in public infrastructure, including streets, parks, and      broadband access. <\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/app.leg.wa.gov\/billsummary?BillNumber=5713&amp;Initiative=false&amp;Year=2019\">SB 5713<\/a> requires that disabled veterans who are entitled to federal Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Services benefits qualify for in-state tuition at public higher education institutions in Washington. <\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/app.leg.wa.gov\/billsummary?BillNumber=5755&amp;Year=2019&amp;Initiative=false\">SB 5755<\/a> increases the tuition and fee waiver for gold star families and expands tuition waivers to more veterans and National Guard members.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/app.leg.wa.gov\/billsummary?BillNumber=5900&amp;Initiative=false&amp;Year=2019\">SB 5900<\/a> creates the position of LGBTQ coordinator in the Washington Department of Veterans Affairs.
