Friends, neighbors –

Earlier this week, we passed a historic $2.2 BILLION pandemic relief package off the Senate floor and on to the Governor – to get immediate, targeted relief to the people and programs who need help NOW. Because we didn’t take any amendments (even though there were some great ideas proposed) this bill will become law – and the money will get out the door – faster.  We’ll pass more important bills, and a big, impactful budget later in session – but already, we’re sending money to the folks who need it ASAP.

This emergency relief will help so many of our neighbors – our communities – get back on their feet, rebuild, and heal after a challenging and painful year. And this important work couldn’t be done without our neighbors working alongside us, sharing their stories and helping us identify solutions  or without our amazing legislative staff!

I want to introduce my team, without whom I wouldn’t be able to respond to several hundred emails a week, take over 30 constituent meetings this session (and we’re only 33 days in!), or introduce 14 bills.

Meet Linda Guijosa, my incredible session aide this year! Linda grew up in Shelton, where she attended Shelton High School. For college, she majored in American Ethnic Studies at the University of Washington, where she is now also pursuing a Master’s of Public Health. Of working in my office, she says, “I love the variety of backgrounds and identities of the folks on Sen. Randall’s team, and the diversity of stakeholders she collaborates with!” Linda has been instrumental in serving our community well super glad to work with her this session!

Also excited to introduce you to my wonderful intern, Chelsea Thumberg! Growing up, Chelsea moved around – from Guam, to the Philippines, to Washington State. She currently attends Washington State University in Pullman, where she’s studying Global Politics. Because many of her loved ones are our neighbors here in the 26th, she says she “loves directly helping the community my family and friends live in. I have the opportunity to be in the front row, assisting constituents with issues that I’m also familiar with.” It’s been a delight to partner with Chelsea in service of our community.

REMINDER: A week from today – on Saturday, Feb. 20 – I’m hosting another Virtual Town Hall! Click the image above to register, or email me at Emily.Randall@leg.wa.gov for the information to call in by phone.

As always, please never hesitate to reach out. The more we hear from you, the better our work in Olympia can reflect our shared values and goals.

All my best,
