The 2018 election has brought a new complexion to the Washington State Legislature, the most diverse in its history. In a story reporting the historic changes, Sen. Emily Randall told KOMO News:

“My grandparents moved to Washington from the Southwest. My family is Chicano. They moved in the ’60s to escape racism and they found this welcoming community, and now their granddaughter is a state senator. So it’s really exciting.”
