Dear friends and neighbors,
I am honored to share I was recently sworn in as your state senator for the 5th Legislative District. After serving as your state representative for over six years, I am thrilled to continue representing and advocating for our community in this new role. Your support has been the foundation of my work, and I deeply appreciate the trust you have placed in me.
In the Senate, I am vice chair of the Transportation Committee and a member of the Labor & Commerce and Environment, Energy & Technology committees. These assignments will allow me to continue working on critical issues, such as improving our state’s infrastructure, creating good jobs, and addressing the challenges posed by climate change. Additionally, I am proud to continue serving as vice chair of the Latino Democratic Caucus and a member of the Senate Members of Color Caucus, working to ensure equity and inclusion in all aspects of our legislative work.
This session, I am committed to addressing the issues that matter most to our district and all Washingtonians, including:
- Increasing housing supply, improving affordability and promoting transit-oriented development to create sustainable and vibrant communities.
- Ensuring every child has access to quality education by exploring progressive revenue options to fully fund schools and address budget shortfalls.
- Improving our transportation systems by enhancing infrastructure and expanding sustainable transit options.
- Enhancing public safety by considering proposals to increase funding for law enforcement hiring and training to ensure our communities are safe and well-served.
- Promoting environmental sustainability by reducing carbon emissions and investing in clean energy solutions.
- Supporting economic growth and job creation by investing in workforce development and small businesses to provide opportunities for all residents.
I look forward to keeping you updated on my legislation this session and hearing from you about the issues that matter most to you and your family.
