Dear friends and neighbors,
We’re more than half-way through the 2025 legislative session. Things are moving quickly, but I’m taking time this month to hold some town halls – and you’re invited! Keep scrolling for details about these events, as well as an update about some of my bills this session.
Saturday, March 15: 33rd Legislative District town hall
I’ll be joining my seatmates, Reps. Mia Gregerson and Edwin Obras, this weekend for a town hall in Des Moines.
When: Saturday, March 15 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Where: Highline College, 2400 S. 240th St., Des Moines, WA 98198, Building 8
Campus map: Find a campus map here.
Parking: Highline College will not be ticketing visitors for this event, but we encourage you to print out a free parking voucher to place on your dash. We’ll also have copies of the voucher available for attendees.
Saturday, March 22: Legislative update town hall with Sen. Bob Hasegawa
I’ll also be joining my colleague, Sen. Bob Hasegawa, next weekend for a town hall in Tukwila. Since our legislative districts are right next to each other, we thought it would be helpful to meet for a joint town hall to take questions and hear some of the concerns our constituents share.
When: Saturday, March 22 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Doors open at 10 a.m.
Where: Foster High School Library, 4242 S 144th St, Tukwila, WA 98168
Parking: Please be sure to park within the Foster High School, Showalter Middle School, or stadium parking lots. The City of Tukwila prohibits parking on residential streets for events held at Foster High School, Showalter Middle School, or Neudorf Stadium.
What has the Senate passed so far?
From rent stabilization to increasing special education funding, the Senate has passed dozens of bills that would meaningfully improve everyday life for people in our district. I’m proud to work with my Senate colleagues to advance solutions – many of them bipartisan – to the challenges we’re facing in Washington.
I’m also proud that seven of the bills I introduced this session are among the legislation passed so far. These bills include increasing protections for seniors in memory care facilities, making our college campuses safer and increasing support for survivors of sexual assault, extending foreclosure mediation to homeowners in condos and homeowners associations, and improving our child protection laws by addressing AI-generated depictions of minors.
We still have more do before we adjourn in six weeks, including passing a balanced state budget, but I’m pleased with the progress we’ve made.
