STEILACOOM — Sen. T’wina Nobles (D-Fircrest) will continue her 28th Legislative District FAFSA Completion Tour today with a stop at Steilacoom High School, where she will speak with students about financial aid, workforce pathways, higher education, and preparing for life after high school.

The tour, which recently launched at Harrison Preparatory School in Lakewood, is focused on connecting students and families with information and support related to FAFSA and WASFA completion, career readiness, and postsecondary opportunities.

As chair of the Senate Higher Education & Workforce Development Committee, Nobles said financial aid completion remains one of the most important steps students can take to access education and workforce opportunities after graduation.

“Too many students assume higher education or workforce training is financially out of reach without realizing there are grants, scholarships, and financial aid programs available to support them,” Nobles said. “I want students to understand that there are multiple pathways to success and that cost should never be the reason they give up on their future.”

The tour also aligns with Washington’s “Your Future, Funded” initiative, a statewide effort focused on ensuring graduating seniors receive support and guidance in completing financial aid applications before the end of the school year.

During her visit to Steilacoom High School, Nobles plans to speak with students about the importance of exploring career pathways early, staying engaged throughout high school, and understanding the opportunities available through college, apprenticeships, workforce training programs, military service, and the trades.

“Every student deserves access to opportunity and the support needed to pursue the path that best fits their goals and passions,” Nobles said. “Whether that path leads to a university, an apprenticeship, a technical program, or another career pathway, we should be making it easier for students to access those opportunities and succeed.”

Upcoming tour stops also include Curtis Senior High School in University Place. Nobles said additional schools and districts in the 28th Legislative District interested in hosting FAFSA or financial aid completion events are encouraged to contact her office.
