Dear friends and neighbors,

Like many of you, my family is feeling the effects of the damage from the bomb cyclone winds that hit our area this week. Our legislative district is likely the most damaged district in the entire state and I’ve been using my Senate office as best I can to get action to restore our power and fix the damage as quickly as possible.

I’ve been in touch with representatives from Puget Sound Energy and they’ve assured me they have as many crews as they can working in our area – 20 teams working just in Issaquah and Hobart, and another 17 in the foothills restoring power lines coming over from Eastern Washington. I am optimistic that power will be restored to nearly everyone who lost it in the next 24 hours.

In the meantime, I wanted to share some information about where people can get warm, charge their devices, access the internet, and meet other needs that have been affected by this wind damage.

Staying Safe

Road crews are working hard to clear our roads. Remember to avoid any downed power lines and not to cross any barricades, and to treat an unpowered traffic light as a four-way stop. King County is prioritizing roads needed by emergency services and important public safety facilities like hospitals, but we will get to everyone soon! And inside your home, remember not to use generators, BBQs, or propane heaters indoors due to fumes.

As always, please continue to stay safe, help your neighbors where you can, and always call 911 for emergencies.

Thanks for reading and here’s hoping this all gets fixed soon!
