Dear friends and neighbors,
The 2023 legislative session is little more than a month away, and I’m excited to share with you some news about the issues I’m going to be working on in the coming year. From making it easier to build affordable housing, to addressing the drug addiction crisis in our state, to ensuring that we have enough nurses in our health care system so that every patient can get high-quality care.
First, though, I’d like to share that my Democratic colleagues have chosen me to serve as the Senate lead on writing our state’s capital construction budget. I’m honored by their trust in me and I’m excited about the opportunity to play such a pivotal role in our state’s infrastructure investment plans.
The infrastructure budget is massively important – it appropriates money across the state for school construction, building affordable housing and new health care facilities, making improvements and repairs to government infrastructure like parks and sewers, and investing in our state’s community and four year colleges. And these construction projects help create tens of thousands of good-paying jobs every year.
I’m looking forward to working with my colleagues in the Senate and House in the style that I work on every issue – with a collaborative, bipartisan approach towards finding investments that are fiscally responsible and make the biggest positive impact for our families and communities. Having spent the previous ten years helping out with our state’s construction budget I feel like I’m well prepared to be successful in my new role. It is also an excellent way to utilize both my background in finance and my current role as a small business owner.
If you have any questions about this or other issues coming before the Legislature this year, feel free to contact me at any time at mark.mullet@leg.wa.gov. I look forward to staying in touch with you.
Take care and stay safe,
