Sen. David Frockt, D-Seattle, issued this statement today following the appointment of Javier Valdez to fill the House seat of Jessyn Farrell, who resigned that position to focus on running for mayor of Seattle.
“I congratulate Javier Valdez for securing the appointment to serve out the rest of former Rep. Farrell’s House term. Javier has been a stalwart leader in the Democratic Party and in the 46th District community in particular for a long time. Javier’s family’s story, as well as his own personal journey, are compelling examples of the American dream. It was quite evident that his values of supporting educational and economic opportunity, as well as being a strong civil rights advocate, were very appealing to the grassroots Democrats of the 46th Legislative District. I am looking forward to serving with him in Olympia as we work together to advance the interests of our constituents locally and across the state.”
