Dear friends and neighbors,<\/p>\n

With the start of the 2023 legislative session, I\u2019m excited to reach out to you as your new state senator for the 36th Legislative District.
\nI\u2019m honored by the opportunity to continue to serve the people of the 36th District and the entire state of Washington. I\u2019ve never shied away from taking on the toughest issues and delivering real results for the people, and that\u2019s what I intend to continue to do. Whether it\u2019s expanding our supply of affordable housing, fixing our upside-down tax code, reforming our juvenile justice system, or any of the other challenges we\u2019re facing in Washington, I\u2019m excited to get to work.<\/p>\n

\"Sen.<\/p>\n

Helping ensure every Washingtonian gets a chance to thrive, including having a great education, a home, and economic stability, is what motivated me to run for the Senate. This is the lens that I bring to my legislative work, and it\u2019s what drives me to tackle the structural change we need across all of Washington state.<\/p>\n

This year, I\u2019ll be serving as the vice chair of the Senate Housing Committee, vice chair of the Senate Business, Financial Services, Gaming & Trade Committee, and as a member of the Senate Human Services Committee.\u00a0We\u2019ve already begun hearings and work sessions in these committees on some of the most important issues of the session, like expanding the supply of affordable housing and how we can improve our childcare and early learning support for kids across the state.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve also started introducing legislation, and next week I\u2019ll share an update with you on the bills that I\u2019m bringing forward. Town Hall This Weekend<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Townhall<\/p>\n

I\u2019m excited that one of the first acts I\u2019ll get to do as your state senator is to host a town hall event with my seatmates in the House this coming Saturday, January 14th<\/sup>. This is a great opportunity for us to hear directly from you about the important issues facing our state \u2013 we\u2019ll briefly be presenting about what our priorities for the 2023 session are, but most of the time will be devoted to Q&A so that you get as much time as possible to ask us about your concerns and for us to hear you.<\/p>\n

When: Saturday, January 14th<\/sup>, 1-2 PM<\/strong><\/p>\n

Where: National Nordic Museum, 2655 NW Market St, Seattle, WA 98107<\/strong><\/p>\n

Who: Sen. Noel Frame, Rep. Julia Reed, Rep. Liz Berry, and hopefully you!<\/strong><\/p>\n

If this time and date doesn\u2019t work for you, don\u2019t worry \u2013 we will plan to have future town hall events, both virtual and in-person, so you\u2019ll have more opportunities to talk with us. Applications for the Page Program Still Open<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Washington State Senate has\u00a0one of the best Page programs in the country<\/a>\u00a0and applications are still open! This is an exciting program which allows many young Washingtonians to get a closer look at the civic process and learn firsthand about state government and the Legislature.<\/p>\n

Pages are students sponsored by legislators who serve for one week during the legislative session. During that week, they spend time in Page School learning about the legislative process while also distributing materials throughout the Capitol campus, assisting legislators, working on the Senate floor, and presenting the colors at the opening of each day\u2019s legislative session.<\/p>\n

\"Three<\/p>\n

To be eligible to page, a student must be 14, 15 or 16 years old. Since the program was shut down over the last two years of mostly remote sessions, this year only students ages 17 and 18 may also apply. Scholarships are available<\/a>\u00a0for pages from families with financial need, and housing with host families local to Olympia is available.<\/p>\n
