Steve Conway, D-South Tacoma, issued the following statement today regarding the hearing of an anti-teacher bill before the Senate Commerce &amp; Labor Committee:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am disappointed that instead of working on coming to an agreement on our state\u2019s budgets certain members of the Senate decided to work on legislation that is non-substantial, illegal and punitive in nature.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, I proudly joined my Democratic colleagues in excusing ourselves from a scheduled hearing on a retaliatory proposal to punish teachers for their decision to participate in a one-day walkout.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe should be working on funding K-12 education not punishing educators.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sen.
