Dear friends and neighbors,

I have served our community in Olympia for more than three decades. I am so proud of all that we’ve accomplished together in that time. I am writing to let you know first that I have decided not to seek re-election in 2026.

The 2026 legislative session will be my last in Olympia. It is time for someone else to represent you at our capital, and for me to spend more time with my family and friends and explore a possible return to teaching and community engagement.

This decision is not without a sense of loss for me personally; I love my job. Throughout my service, I have made many friends and been presented with the opportunity of a lifetime: to use my skills in public service and decision-making to do everything in my power to make your life a little better.

Our district is defined by the need to ensure economic and social opportunity for all. For this reason, I have always been a champion for economic justice, collective bargaining, and the groups and organizations which strengthen this end.

As your Representative and Senator, I have worked to secure state funding for our district’s parks, community centers, museums, swimming pools and other public spaces that improve the quality of life for everyone in our community. Your support and confidence in me made this possible.

I will complete my term in 2026. I look forward to doing everything I can to help the next Senator for the 29th District succeed.

I thank you for the opportunity to serve you all these years and look forward to visiting with you during the 2026 Legislative Session.

Yours truly and humbly,

Senator Steve Conway
