Week 4 of the 2026 session will see an increase in floor action and an important deadline. Wednesday is the final day policy committees can vote to move Senate bills out of committee and into a fiscal committee or Rules, the last stop on the way to a floor vote. Policy committees will spend much of this week in executive session, making the important decision whether to move a bill forward ahead of Wednesday’s deadline.

The bill requires state-registered building and construction apprenticeship programs to include behavioral health and wellness training so apprentices learn how to recognize distress, reduce stigma, prevent suicide, address substance use risks, and connect coworkers to help. The bill will ensure safety for pedestrians when navigating a construction site by a school, hospital or park by requiring the construction company provide a continuous and accessible pedestrian passage throughout the duration of the work. The Housing Committee will hear public testimony on House Bill 1500, sponsored by Rep. Julia Reed. The bill creates more transparency for potential buyers of a condo or other types of housing units in an HOA by increasing the information required to be included on resale certificates, such as outstanding fees owners may be required to pay, the HOA’s financial stability, ongoing lawsuits, what damage or risks are covered by insurance, and any known violations affecting the unit or common areas.
