Rebecca\nSalda\u00f1a (D-Seattle) issued this statement today regarding the passage of House\nBill 1155:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI do not support eight-hour work days\nfor nurses. I support the flexible work schedule choices nurses make through\ncollective bargaining to suit what works best for them and their families as\nwell as for their patients\u2019 needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI believe all frontline workers doing\npatient care deserve regular and consistent breaks. This is essential to\npatient safety and a matter of respect for a workforce that has historically\nbeen and continues to be predominantly women. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat was before us on the Senate floor\ngutted the original bill. My vote on the amendment regarding eight-hour work\ndays was procedural, and does not reflect my desire for the final outcome of\nthe bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI will not support the bill in its\ncurrent form, but will push for a conference with the House of Representatives\nto resolve these issues.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE \u2014April 19, 2019 OLYMPIA \u2013 Sen.
