Joined by friends, family, and constituents, it was a wonderful way to begin our work. It would lower the threshold for school bonds from 60% approval to 55% if passed alongside another bill and approved by voters next November. In the Senate, I\u2019m vice chair of the State Government, Tribal Affairs &amp; Elections and Agriculture &amp; Natural Resources committees and a member of the Early Learning &amp; K-12 Education and Transportation committees.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I am a lifelong Washingtonian committed to improving educational opportunities for our children and young people, advancing public transportation and infrastructure, and creating an economy that works for everyone.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Growing up on a Puyallup farm in a union household, I learned early the importance of hard work and the power of what we can accomplish together.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Upon completing a bachelor\u2019s degree at Western Washington University \u2014 the first in my family to do so \u2014 I began a career in communications and human resources for nonprofit organizations like the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Washington-based corporations like Visio and Microsoft.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">When my husband (Baiya) our three children, and I moved to Gig Harbor, I became a full-time public school volunteer, serving two terms on the Peninsula School Board including two years as board president.
