OLYMPIA – Sen. Deb Krishnadasan (D-Gig Harbor) will serve as vice chair of the Senate Transportation Committee this session after the Senate voted unanimously in favor of the appointment Monday.

“It’s especially important for me to serve on this committee given the many transportation issues facing the 26th District,” Krishnadasan said. “I’m proud to take on the role of vice chair so I can continue advocating for the ferry reliability, road and bridge improvements, transit options, and other critical transportation needs that matter so much to our communities.”

Krishnadasan was recently elected by the voters of Gig Harbor, Key Peninsula, Port Orchard and Bremerton to continue serving as their state senator following her 2024 appointment to the position.

“I’m excited to welcome Senator Krishnadasan as a new vice chair for the Senate Transportation Committee,” Committee Chair Sen. Marko Liias (D-Edmonds said). ” Krishnadasan is someone who gets things done, and our transportation system needs work right now. Our entire state will benefit from her practical, proven experience and her commitment to finding bipartisan solutions that can move us all forward.”

The Senate Transportation Committee considers state and regional transportation planning and policy, road safety, ferries, bicycle and motorcycle policies, and sets the transportation budget, including revenue streams for transportation issues.

Krishnadasan joins Sen. John Lovick (D-Mill Creek) as co-vice chair.
