Shin bill to serve developmentally disabled students signed into law 5/14/2013
A bill to increase accessibility for developmentally disabled students entering higher education was signed into law today by Gov. Jay Inslee. Senate Bill 5180 would assemble a taskforce of stakeholders from K-12 and postsecondary institutions with the objective of making the transition more seamless and successful for students with disabilities.
Shin votes against Republican budget proposal 4/9/2013
OLYMPIA — Last Friday, the Senate passed a budget proposed by the Republican majority by a 30-18 vote. Sen. Paull Shin, D-Edmonds, voted against that budget proposal, along with the majority of his Democratic colleagues.
Sen. Shin introduces trio of common-sense reform bills 1/25/2013
Three bills introduced by Sen. Paull Shin propose common-sense reforms to higher education and DUI policies.
“It’s important that we keep an eye on the legislation we’ve already got on the books and continually pass reforms and changes as necessary,” said Shin, D-Edmonds. “These measures will help veterans and people with disabilities attend higher education institutions and will clarify our strict laws on DUI offenders.”

Governor signs Shin bill allowing student college trustees 3/29/2012
OLYMPIA - Students at Washington's community and technical colleges may gain additional input on the actions of their schools' boards of trustees under a bill signed today by Gov. Chris Gregoire.
Senate Bill 5217, sponsored by Sen. Paull Shin, gives community and technical colleges the option of appointing a student to the school's board of trustees.
Sen. Shin releases statement on Senate Ninth Order 3/5/2012
OLYMPIA – On Friday, Sen. Shin released the following statement on the actions of Senate Republicans and three Democrats:
“I am a strong believer that differences and impasses can be addressed peacefully and that the best methods are through discussion and compromise. The actions taken by Senate Republicans and three Democrats are not in keeping with my beliefs. I am saddened that our great legislative process has succumbed to partisan game playing at the expense of people’s lives and livelihoods.”

Senate passes Shin bill allowing student CC trustees 2/13/2012
OLYMPIA - Students could have a direct hand in the actions of the board of trustees of Washington community and technical colleges under a bill approved Monday by the Washington State Senate.
Senate Bill 5217, sponsored by Sen. Paull Shin, would allow community and technical colleges the option of appointing a student to the board of trustees. The student would be selected by the governor from a list submitted by the student government.
Senate approves Shin bill to continue Workforce Training Program 2/11/2012
OLYMPIA - The Washington State Senate has approved a bill continuing a program that provides training benefits to companies locating or expanding in Washington state.
"We welcome and encourage businesses from around the country and around the world to come to Washington and set up locations here," said Sen. Paull Shin, the bill's sponsor.
