Housing Issue Brief

Right now, far too many of our citizens are worried about keeping or getting a roof over their heads. Consider this:

Affordable housing is rapidly disappearing across the state.
20,000 individuals find themselves homeless in Washington.
Foreclosures are happening at twice the rate they did this time last year.

Democrats in the Senate and House joined the Governor in making housing affordability, homelessness, and responding to the subprime mortgage crisis a priority during the 2008 Legislative session.

Together, these three corners helped to ensure that the dream of homeownership can be a reality – and never a nightmare – for Washingtonians.
